Feedback Patterns

Category

This pattern is applicable for all phases of the ATS2020 learning model.

Active Role

This pattern was originally written for teachers to help students, but it could also be used by students directly if the pattern was adapted accordingly.

Summary

Teachers want students to challenge their understanding and help them to know what level of understanding they have achieved. Therefore, they give feedback to the student’s performance, based on which artefacts have been shared by students (Eckstein, Bergin, Sharp, & Manns, 2002a, p. 2). This pattern relies on patterns like PRESENT, RELEASE YOUR THOUGHT or OPEN THE PROJECT. Students must be able to understand that THIS IS FEEDBACK on their performance and not only an side-comment.

A closely related pattern is FEEDBACK by Bauer& Baumgartner (2012).

Example for Technological Support

Feedback could be either given through comments or in an online forum (in text, audio or video).
